Gliders are an unique tool that has revolutionized how society collects ocean data. By using buoyancy as a means to move through the ocean, batteries can allow gliders to move through the ocean. This allows scientists to maintain the a presence at sea under violent conditions, remote locations and their modular nature allows a wide range of science sensors to meet many science needs.
