Short Bio:
Erika Tam grew up in Anaheim, California. She initially pursued a double major in Biology and English at William Penn University before transferring back to the west coast. She graduated from Cal Poly Maritime (formerly CSU Maritime Academy) with a Bachelors in Oceanography. Her professional experience includes oceanographic data analysis, marine research, and geospatial modeling using MATLAB and GEBCO datasets. Erika is passionate about marine science and applying data-driven approaches to better understand ocean systems. She is excited to continue her academic journey towards earning a master’s in operational oceanography. At Rutgers, she hopes to further develop her research skills and expand her knowledge in oceanographic and environmental sciences. Outside of campus, she enjoys SCUBA diving, fishing, reading, and staying active through fitness.
