Polar regions are extreme environments where the physics, chemistry and biology are tightly coupled to the extreme shifts in temperature and light over the summer and winter seasons. This makes these environments extremely sensitive to changes in the climate. The team has been actively involved in understanding Arctic and Antarctic systems with respect to dramatic changes occurring in these locations over the last 30 years. The team has been conducting extensive research efforts along the West Antarctic Peninsula, the Amundsen Sea and the Ross Sea.
