Research Interests:
Although my educational background is in phytoplankton physiology and
bio-optics, my current research interest focuses on using autonomous
underwater vehicles (AUVs) in a sustained effort to maintain a
continuous subsurface presence in the coastal oceans around the world.
Specifically, I am responsible for the processing of raw optical and
physical environmental data acquired by the Slocum Coastal Electric
Glider and dissemination to our educational and research partners and
the public via the Internet. I am using a suite of programming
languages (Matlab, PHP, HTML, Perl, shell-scripting) on a variety of
computing platforms (Windows, UNIX, Linux) to accomplish this. The end
goal is to provide high-quality, continuous, real-time, sub-surface
ocean data in order to further the understanding of the effects of the
coastal oceans on our environment.
